Mount Kenya Over View
Mount Kenya is Africa's second highest mountain standing at 5,199m, poised
magnificently on the equator. Her spectacular snow- capped peaks create a
stunning backdrop all year- round, and are crowned to be the only snow-
blessed point on the equator. Africa's most stunning mountain treasures
sweeping valleys infused with jeweled streams and lucent- colored birds
who will befriend you on sight. Mount Kenya's prestigious peaks are prized
as the top rock climbing cliffs in East Africa,promising you soaring views
from directly over top the equator.
4 Days Mount Kenya Climbing Sirimon - Chogoria Route
Distance: 76 km | Difficulty: Moderate | Start/Finish: Nairobi
Day 1: Nairobi / Nanyuki/ Oldmosses Camp (3300m)
Pick you from your hotel in Nairobi at 8AM and drive via the central part of Kenya where tea and coffee is the main cash crop.Arriving in Nanyuki in time for lunch.After lunch together with the porters and cook drive for 45Min to Sirimon park gate which is at the altitude of 2650M. After finishing with the park formalities the hike start first through the tropical rain forest which used to be the hideout area for the Kenyan freedom fighters,so you will learn a lot about different types of trees which they were using for different purposes.Also its the home for Elephants, Buffalos , Antelopes and birds. Before getting to the Hygenia zone all the way up to Oldmosses hut 3300M. Distance 9KM, Time 3-4HRS.
Day 2: Oldmosses / Shipton camp (4200m)
After breakfast leave from the hut at 7AM and hike through the moorland part of the mountain where you learn and see a lot about the high altitude flowers, birds and the famous small animal which is the nearest living relative of elephant (Rock Hylax). Going up and down the mackinders valley to shipton hut 4200M.The distance covered is 14 KM and time taken is 6-7hrs hike, depending with your interest on nature. Pic-nick lunch on the way, dinner and overnight in the hut.
Day 3: Shipton / Summit (Pt.Lenana 4985m) / Chogoria bandas.
Wake up at around 3am in the morning and after a pre-breakfast of tea and some cookies start for the summit Pt.Lenana 4985m which is the 3rd highest peak of Mt.Kenya after Batian and Nelion peaks, timing our self to get there in time for the amazing Sunrise at around 6.25 am. If clear weather you can see the summit of Kilimanjaro Uhuru peak 320Km to the South. Later descend down via most scenic valley in Mt.Kenya,Gorges valley down the chogoria route to Mintos camp for your full breakfast,and them descend further down to Meru Mt.Kenya bandas 2950m.Dinner and overnight bandas.
Day 4: Meru Mt.Kenya bandas (2950m) / Nairobi.
Depart from the Bandas after breakfast descend down through the bamboo forest for 10KM where you connect your jeep to chogoria town for lunch and later take your transfer back to Nairobi

Sample Food Menu
During our expedition we normally provide enough, fresh and clean food. When it comes to cooking we cook different food at different elevation putting into consideration of the boiling point at different heights so that the food will be well cooked for easier digestion. We also have food supply on the Mountain to make sure that there is enough and fresh food through out the trek.
Considering all that, you need water to avoid dehydration, we will provide you with fresh fruits.
BREAKFAST: Fruit Juice, Fruit, Cereal/Porridge, Eggs bread/French-toast/Plain-toast/Pancakes, Sausages, Margarine, Jam/Honey, Tea/Coffee/Drinking chocolate. Boiled egg, spinach omelet or fried egg with beacon and bread.
SNACKS: Peanuts/Crisps/Popcorn/Cookies.
LUNCH: Sliced Carrot and Cucumber stripes, Avocado slices, Boiled egg, Vegetable/Meat cutlets, Sandwiches (Egg/ Cheese/Tomato/Tuna/Meat/Peanut butter), Fruit. Boiled egg, salami sandwich, cheese, French toast, Macaroni, meat sauce and bread.
DINNER: Soup of the day, Bread, Salad, Rice/Pasta/Potatoes, Chicken/Meat, Mixed Vegetables (Carrot/French -Beans/Cabbage), Lentils, Fruit Salad, Fruit with custard, Tea/Coffee/Milo/Drinking chocolate. Spaghetti with meat sauce or fish with rice, Fried beef with roast potatoes, rice, carrots, cabbage. Roast chicken with vegetable, fried rice, green pepper, carrots.
ON WAY TO THE SUMMIT (midnight snack)
Hot Chocolate, Tea or coffee and biscuits, Glucose, Chocolate bar, orange squash or soup.
NOTE: We are flexible and willing to accept Tourist suggestions on Food menu and equipments information during our trek.
NB: You have the right to bring your food if you see any need to do so. But on our side, the food will be enough and fresh to avoid any side effects.
